LanguageBank (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the LanguageBank mobile application (“App”).

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you disagree, please discontinue use of the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address

  • Name (if provided through Google/Apple sign-in)

  • Optional profile details (name, birth year, occupation, location)

  • Language preferences (input and output languages)

User-Generated Content

We collect the content you create in the App, such as:

  • Sentences and translations

  • Categories and metadata you organize

  • Feedback or suggestions submitted through the App

Payment Information

We do not collect or store your payment details. All payments are processed securely by Apple through the App Store. We only receive confirmation of subscription status.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Usage Data

We automatically collect:

  • App usage patterns and actions taken

  • Device type, OS version, and system settings

  • Error logs, performance data, and crash reports

1.3 Information from Third-Party Services

Sign-In Providers

If you sign in using Google or Apple:

  • Google Sign-In: We receive your name and email

  • Apple Sign-In: We receive your name and either your real email or Apple’s private relay email (if you choose to hide it)

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide & maintain core features - Manage accounts, sync your data, and operate the App’s functionality.

  • Personalize your experience - Tailor content and language output to your preferences.

  • Process transactions - Verify subscription status and unlock premium features.

  • Improve the App - Analyze usage patterns to refine features, fix bugs, and optimize performance.

  • Communicate with you - Respond to questions, support requests, or feedback.

  • Ensure security - Detect misuse, protect against unauthorized access, and safeguard user data.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is securely stored using Supabase, a trusted cloud provider.

We apply industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS)

  • Secure authentication and session handling

  • Row-level security ensuring you only access your own data

  • Regular monitoring and security updates

While we strive to protect your data, no method of digital storage is 100 percent secure.

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share data only under specific conditions:

4.1 Service Providers

We use third parties to support App functionality:

  • Supabase – authentication and database hosting

  • OpenAI – AI services (sentence generation, transcription, translation)

    • Text submitted to AI features is processed by OpenAI

  • Apple – subscription management and payment processing

4.2 Legal Compliance

We may disclose information when required to comply with legal obligations or enforceable requests.

4.3 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, user data may be part of the transferred assets.

5. Your Rights & Choices

Access & Updates

You may view and update profile details at any time through the Settings page.

Delete Your Account

You can delete your LanguageBank account directly within the App. Once deleted:

  • All personal data, sentences, and categories are permanently removed

  • Feedback submissions will be anonymized

Manage Subscriptions

Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled through your Apple ID in the App Store settings.

6. Children’s Privacy

LanguageBank is not intended for children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we learn such data was collected, we will delete it promptly.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as your account is active.

If you delete your account, all data will be permanently removed within 30 days, unless retention is required by law.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries outside your own jurisdiction. By using the App, you consent to such transfers, understanding that data protection laws may vary by location.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy periodically. When we revise it:

  • The “Last Updated” date will change

  • We may notify you within the App or by email

You should review the policy from time to time.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you are entitled to:

  • Know what personal information is collected

  • Know if personal information is disclosed

  • Request access to your personal data

  • Opt-out of data sale (we do not sell data)
